Sheriff Crissey was sworn in as the Yankton County Sheriff on January 3rd, 2023. He first became a law enforcement officer in 2010. He worked as a Deputy Sheriff with Aurora and Bon Homme County’s prior to moving to Yankton, SD. He then worked for the Yankton Police Department before running for the office of Sheriff. Sheriff Crissey held the positions of Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, and Patrol Sergeant while at the Yankton Police Department.  

Sheriff Crissey graduated from Southeast Technical College in Sioux Falls, SD with a degree in Criminal Justice and later completed his Criminal Justice Bachelor's Degree online at Central State University. 

Sheriff Crissey is an active member in his county as he currently serves as a board member for the following committees: Boys & Girls Club of Yankton, Yankton Contact Center, SPARK Community Conversations and Federal Bureau of Prisons Yankton Community Relations. Sheriff Crissey is also an active member of the local Fraternal Order of Police, South Dakota D.A.R.E. program (State Mentor) and the South Dakota Sheriffs’ Association.
