Staci Ackerman has been with the South Dakota Sheriffs’ Association since May of 2007. She has been a certified law enforcement officer in the state of South Dakota since 1993. Previously she worked as a deputy sheriff for Minnehaha County where she learned first hand the responsibilities of the Office of Sheriff. Her career began working in the jail and eventually worked her way to the patrol division where she was active in Community Policing and worked as a School Resource Officer and DARE instructor. Staci was also an active member of the Minnehaha County Deputies Association serving as their secretary and president. She also served two terms on her local school board as well as being actively involved in her local community development office.

Staci is married to Sheriff Dave Ackerman and also works part-time as a deputy sheriff for McPherson County. Staci has five children, two sons, a daughter, step-daughter, and step-son. She and her family enjoy deer hunting and spending time together.

There are always new challenges around every corner. I enjoy problem solving and bringing people together to solve them. The Office of Sheriff is very important because they are the only elected law enforcement officers. They directly serve the people in their communities and I am very proud to work with our South Dakota Sheriffs”
