Bill Stahl took office as Sheriff of Sully County in January of 1991. Sheriff Stahl is currently the longest serving Sheriff in Sully County history. Sheriff Stahl was born and raised in Sully County. Prior to being elected Sheriff he was involved in the family business, restaurant, and service station. Sheriff Stahl is a member of the SDSA (served as President), South Dakota Peace Officers Association (served as President), Dakota Territories Association, Western States Sheriff’s Association, and other community organizations. Sheriff Stahl is an EMT and retired from the Onida Fire Department after 30 years of volunteer service. Sheriff Stahl and his two sworn Deputies serve Sully County with a contract with the City of Onida and a large expanding population along the Missouri River. Sheriff Stahl is married and has one grown son and his emotional support dog, Oakley. |
