Sheriff Tom Fridley began his law enforcement career in 1975 after previously serving in the United States Army.  Tom’s law enforcement background included working for the Mitchell Police Department, Hot Springs Police Department, Hanson County Sheriff’s Office, and McCook County Sheriff’s Office.  He also worked for the Sanborn County Sheriff’s Office before finally being elected Sheriff and taking office in January 1991. Sheriff Fridley is veteran who is active in the community through his membership in the American Legion, National Sheriffs Association, National Tactical Officers Association, Artesian Community Improvement Association, the James Valley Task Force, and South Dakota Sheriffs Association where he is a past president.
