Jail:  Jackson County contracts with other counties for jail bed space

Sheriff Amiotte was sworn in as Sheriff of Jackson County in September of 2022.  He has been a certified law enforcement officer since 1999 at the federal and state levels.  Sheriff Amiotte has served as an Oglala Sioux Tribal Officer, National Park Service Law Enforcement Ranger, and as a Special Agent with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in their violent crimes and drug division.

Sheriff Amiotte is also a member of the South Dakota Sheriffs’ Association.
