Sheriff Chad Schlotterbeck took office January 2013.  He has been a certified law enforcement officer since 1995 having served with the Castlewood Police Department, Estelline Police Department, and Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office.  Prior to his law enforcement career, he spent four years in the United States Air Force at Holloman Airforce Base in New Mexico and then served two years with the South Dakota Air National Guard.  Sheriff Schlotterbeck has a B.A. in Psychology from Ashford University in Ames, Iowa and a Master’s Degree in Science Management from Colorado Technical University.  He is a member of the American Legion Post 250, South Dakota Peace Officers Association, Fraternal Order of Police, and South Dakota Sheriff’s Association.
