Sheriff Briggs was sworn in as Sheriff in November 2021 upon the retirement of the previous Sheriff. He officially ran for office and ran unopposed in 2022. Sheriff Briggs has been a certified law enforcement officer since 2012. During that time, he has been a D.A.R.E. instructor for the Plankinton, White Lake, and Stickney schools. Sheriff Briggs was Aurora County coroner from 2013 to 2021 and continues to serve as deputy coroner. He participates in the states 24/7 alcohol and drug monitoring program, the prescription drug drop box program, and a member of the James Valley Drug Task Force.
