Joe Farmer took office as the Sheriff of Todd County in November 2002
and has been working in law enforcement for over twelve years. Sheriff
Farmer began his law enforcement career as a Detention Officer with the
Bureau of Indian Affairs and also worked as a Patrol Officer, Sergeant,
Captain and Chief of Police with the Rosebud Law Enforcement Services.
Joe is a member of the South Dakota Peace Officers Association and the
South Dakota Sheriffs’ Association. As Sheriff of Todd County,
Joe oversees a secretary and a part time deputy as well as serving as
the Emergency Manager for the county.
