Sheriff Kevin Scotting took office in February 2005. He was elected to the Executive Board in 2007 and served as President of the association in 2012. Sheriff Scotting grew up in Hendricks Minnesota. He has been in law enforcement for over 30 years becoming a law enforcement officer in 1985. Sheriff Scotting worked as the Police Chief in Hayti and as a deputy sheriff for the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office. He was also a deputy sheriff for the Kingsbury County Sheriff’s Office before becoming their Sheriff. Sheriff Scotting is married to his wife Alona. They have three grown children, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. The Sheriff’s Office provides contract law enforcement for the communities of Arlington, Demit, and Oldham. Kingsbury County is 864 square miles with a population of 5,100.
Sheriff Scotting is also an active member of the National Sheriffs Association, Past President of the South Dakota Sheriffs Association, Fraternal Order of Police, the De Smet Methodist Church, and Ducks Unlimited.
