Alan Dale

Sheriff Alan Dale took office, replacing retired Sheriff Keith E. Gall, in March of 2021 and recently ran unopposed to retain the position.   Alan began his career with the Corson County Sheriff's Office in November of 2011 after serving for a brief time as a Police Officer with the City of Pierre Police Department.

Alan, his wife Emily, and their two children live in McLaughlin, SD.

Sheriff Dale attended Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls, SD, and graduated from Southeast Technical Institute with an Associate of Applied Science in Law Enforcement Science.  Alan then attended and successfully completed the South Dakota Law Enforcement Academy in November of 2012.

In addition to his regular duties, Sheriff Dale is certified by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (F.L.E.T.C.) as an Active Shooter Threat Instructor and is currently a Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program (D.A.R.E.) Instructor.

Throughout the school year, Alan spends a great deal of time working with area schools to help educate students on the importance of making good decisions, the consequences of bad decisions, the dangers of drug and alcohol addiction, peer pressure and bullying.
