Jason Bechtold

Sheriff Lenny Gramkow took office on January 4th, 2013 and is an active member of the South Dakota Sheriffs Association.  He is a graduate of Avon High School.  Prior to becoming Sheriff, Lenny was a deputy for Bon Homme County.  He comes to the Office of Sheriff with over 20 years of law enforcement experience.  He has worked as a deputy sheriff in Hughes County as well as being a police officer for the Avon, Aberdeen, and Pierre Police Departments.  Sheriff Gramkow also has corrections experience having worked for the Department of Corrections both in Springfield and in Pierre.  Sheriff Gramkow is a DARE instructor, a member of the South Dakota Peace Officers Association, Fraternal Order of Police, and American Legion.

Sheriff Gramkow is married and they has an 8 year old son and 23 year old step-son.

Sheriff Gramkow oversees a staff of eight, which includes two deputies. The Bon Homme County Sheriffs Office also provides contract law enforcement with the city of Tabor.   Sheriff Gramkow is also responsible for managing a six bed jail and a full-time dispatch center.  He and his deputies cover all of Bon Homme County which is approximately 564 square miles and has just over 7,000 residents.
